About the Job

As a trainee with us, you will have a unique opportunity to develop within some of Sweden's most critical IT environments. Our systems contribute to a well-functioning society by creating conditions for taxation, population registration, democratic elections, crime prevention, and international cooperation.

In this role, you will work practically with our storage platform, where NetApp is our primary storage solution and vSAN is a central part of the infrastructure. You will participate in daily operations, work with troubleshooting and optimization, and contribute to capacity planning and development of modern storage architecture on a large scale. Additionally, Backup is one of our most critical functions, and you will have the opportunity to delve into Commvault. Here, you will learn how data is protected in complex environments, how restore flows are managed during incidents, and how automation and improvement of backup processes can streamline operations. You will also broaden your skills by working with virtualization on our Broadcom/VMware-based platform, including VCF, vSAN, and NSX. This way, you will gain a deep and varied understanding of modern IT infrastructure.

The Swedish Tax Agency's IT trainee program is now in its fifth year, and we are planning for the next start where we want to hire up to 20 trainees in 3 different locations. During the program, you will gain knowledge about the Swedish Tax Agency's operations and build on your experience. You will have an individual development plan that is followed up and revised during the program period so that you can create the best setup based on your conditions and the needs of the organization. You will have an experienced mentor for support and guidance. The trainee program lasts for 12 months, and your daily routine consists of practical work, training, theme days, and workshops, alongside working in the team. The program's structure is carefully designed to give you the best start to your career. Of course, the program begins with a kick-off.

As a trainee, you are an active part of the team from day one. You will participate in the daily operations of our infrastructure services, work side by side with experienced technicians in troubleshooting, and be involved in projects where we build new systems and platforms. In our large IT department with nearly 1500 colleagues, you have the opportunity to develop while contributing to societal benefit. You belong to the Server, Storage, and Virtualization section of the Swedish Tax Agency's technical service unit in the IT department, located in Sundbyberg. In our section, we are 25 colleagues.

About You

You should also have:

• a current or recently completed and relevant education in IT (at least 180 credits) from a university or college with graduation from 2024 or later, but no later than August 2026
• relevant experience in virtualization such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM from your studies
• relevant experience in server environments such as Linux and/or Windows Server from your studies
• relevant experience with concepts such as SAN/NAS or storage architecture at a basic level from your studies

Good to Know

The employment is permanent and begins with a six-month probationary period.

Employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment. For some of our tasks in security class, Swedish citizenship is required.
